I
taught history at the University of Wisconsin; earned a Pulitzer
Prize nomination for a book on Japanese Americans and then went
on to be the administrator of Wisconsin's health and social service
department. Since 1990, I have been the President and CEO of the
Annie E. Casey Foundation. I sail my boat along the eastern seaboard
when time allows.
Our
big accomplishments: Erica Nelson, married, New York City ballet
dancer and starting law school. Lincoln Nelson, Hunter College graduate
(b.ball star) who rode a bike across the country this summer.

much education. BA and then three years to get an MA in sociology
and then three years of law school. At least I escaped Nam. General
law practice in Racine, Wisconsin for 17 years and then quit and moved
to Las Vegas in 1992, leaving two ex-wives behind. But what could
I do, so started over as a lawyer, personal injury only, made some
money and quit a few months ago. Recently retired except for real
estate investment business with third (and final) wife, teammate,
partner Luann. |

After
high school, headed off to nursing school in Chicago, graduating
in 1967. In 1968 Ed and I married and lived near the University
of Illinois medical campus. While he attended school, I worked at
the University of Illinois hospital and Presbyterian St. Luke's
in surgical ICU. We moved to Wisconsin in 1972 when Ed started his
residency. Three children and many years later, we're still here.
The children are one their own, living in three different states
which gives us a great opportunity to travel.
My
activities, hobbies and passion can be labeled into one –
quilting! I've worked in a quilt shop, taught, make and collect
quilts.

In
a racquetball tournament, I played Bill Ackermann (class of 1965),

Got to know them as adults, not student-teacher.

Forty
years might be divided in the following manner:
Three
years in the U.S. Army (1968/71) – one year at the Tomb of
the Unknowns and one year in S.E. Asia as an advisor to an ARVN
Ranger Battalion.
Five
years as the sometimes-husband of a near-crazy astrologer/hippie
Eight
years in various colleges (Miami of Ohio, University of Connecticut,
St. Joseph's University, Alvernia College) resulting in a BA in
English Literature, and MA in Developmental Biopsychology and an
MBA.
Twelve
years building my own business – an agricultural commodities
trading company.
Fourteen
winters skiing in the Rockies.
Fifteen
years as the proud father of a fantastic daughter, Chelsea, now
in her last year at Dartmouth College.
Twenty-six
years as the husband, friend, and companion of a beautiful woman.
And
the next several years doing some teaching, some consulting and
hoping for a chance to do it all over again.

Business
Coordinator/Designer/Developer - Donna has built highly respected
and competitive businesses focused on interactive web development
and graphic design. Interactive Data Technologies, Ltd., (IDT) a
subsidiary of Donna's House of Type, Inc., (DHOT) is her most recent
business success. The parent corporation founded by Nusbaum in 1968
is a computerized graphics and typesetting industry leader within
the firm's central Illinois marketplace. Clients of Interactive
Data Technologies, Ltd., and Donna's House of Type, Inc., are comprised
of agencies, corporations and companies such as Lucent Technologies,
Pepsi, Fiat-Allis, American Tourister, Illinois state government
and the U.S. Postal Service.
IDT's
remarkable 350% growth during it's first nine years attests to honed
skills in business operations and management. IDT and DHOT continue
to raise the bar in their marketplace by setting industry standards,
price points and quality expectations. These businesses were built
on skills gained through other remarkable successes. Donna embarked
on her first business venture in 1965, using marketing and management
skills to increase sales of the Springfield Avis franchise 12-fold
in one year.
In
1984 she took over a dying lakeside fishing resort, rejuvenating
it within two years to a fully booked family vacation destination.
Revenues during that time increased by more than 200%. In the early
ninties Donna Nusbaum Aschenbrenner embraced what was then the new
web phenomenon, and used technical and business skills to expand
her existing graphics firm and client base into today's thriving
corporations. She has shared her skills through lectures, classes
and business partnerships.
Divorced
in 1996 after 20 years of marriage.
